What do we do when solutions evade us? Learn what to do for several types of shoulder dystocia. This course is recommended for providers and birth workers.

This course reviews birth anatomy, the different types of SD, solutions for each type, and how to think critically in a time of crisis and incorporate this life-saving information into your practice.

    Course Objectives
  1. Identify an early sign of shoulder dystocia

  2. Compare an inlet and outlet dystocia

  3. List the four steps of FlipFLOP for resolving shoulder dystocia

  4. Plan an appropriate technique for bilateral inlet dystocia

  5. Strategize an appropriate technique for bilateral outlet dystocia


American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM) has approved this course for 3 contact hours (3 CEs). Midwifery Education and Accreditation Council (MEAC) has approved this course for 3 contact hours (3 CEs). This course provides three (3) continuing education contact hours from ANCC. Spinning Babies® is accredited as a provider of continuing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation (ANCC).

This course is active for 60 days. Expiration dates can be reset at any time before taking the pre-test. After taking the pre-test, extension beyond the 60 days will be $10.
